The Legend of the Willow Pattern Plate

Long, long ago there lived a mandarin and his daughter called Koongse. They lived in a palace in China.
They lived in the palace for a long time until Koong-se fell in love with Chang. The mandarin was desperate for his daughter to marry the rich duke. The mandarin built a huge fence around the palace so he could keep the two lovers away from each other. Chang and Koongse escaped and quickly ran over the bridge. Chang was carrying the box of jewels. They ran over to the island. Soon the mandarin came back still hungry for revenge.
Once he killed both of them he was very happy. The two lovers died and turned into doves.
